Do You Have Oily Skin?

do you have oily skin as a male?

There are some awful “side effects” of oily skin like pimples, acne, blackheads and shiny areas of the skin. All this is caused by an overproduction of sebum in the sebaceous glands which together with your male hormones kick start producing bad skin.

Do you have oily skin? I suggest you read on to get an answer to why your skin is so changing. Find out where your skin sits in the grooming section.

Why is Your Skin Oily?

The hormone dihydrotesterone when released, send signals to produce an additional amount of skin oil called sebum. The result is oily skin and the outbreak of pimples and blackheads. If you want to know more about dihydrotestosterone, you can read more from Wikipedia:

“Dihydrotestosterone (commonly abbreviated to DHT), or 5α-dihydrotestosterone (5α-DHT), also known as androstanolone (5α-androstan-17β-ol-3-one) as well as 17β-hydroxy-5α-androstan-3-one, is a sex steroid and androgen hormone. The enzyme 5α-reductase synthesizes DHT in the prostate, testes, hair follicles, and adrenal glands. This enzyme reduces the 4,5 double-bond of the hormone testosterone.”

This is quite a normal problem for many young boys and even many men too. The reason why is simply because men produce more sebum than what women do and even though women have trouble with oily skin, men can have a greater problem.

However, oily skin almost creates a protective film on the skin against bacteria so there can be some benefits from oily skin too. The sebum protects your skin, and as such it will make the sebum skin last longer and not start growing old. It also keeps your skin moisturized a lot longer also.
